"...O Lord, thou art our
Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the works of thy
hand." Isaiah 64:8

Joshua - age 9

Joshua's first painting lesson at 18 months old.

Mom's Favorite Picture!
(Taken by Aunt Pat from Springfield, IL) Even at age
15 months, Joshua was able to use his hands to work with tiny objects. I never could have
guessed back then how God would use these little hands to glorify Himself just a few years
later.
"And whatsoever ye do in word or
deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by
him."
Colossians 3:17

Artist
Joshua Burkhardt.... through the hands of
a child
Gifted with his hands from an early age, Joshua was
born in Humboldt, TN, where his first two years were spent exploring life in the country
and learning to use his hands in the many adventures of toddler hood. Having a woodworking
dad and an artistic mom, it was not unusual to find this toddler with paintbrushes,
screwdrivers and electric sanders in hand.
At age two, Joshua and his family moved back to the
beautiful white beaches of the panhandle of Northern Florida. The next few years were
spent exploring the beaches, learning to skate and to ride a bike, and building legos.
Joshuas talent in clay sculpting was discovered
in 1998 at age nine. Joshuas talents and media publicity soon gave him the
opportunity of being a ten year old entrepreneur.
Joshua has been commissioned to do many original
sculptures such as dogs, birds, opossums, flamingos, Indians, iguanas, lion fish and more.
His best selling sculpture is still the simplistic Nativity scene with Mary, Joseph and
shepherd kneeling at the side of Baby Jesus.
Just as the saying "Love
is not love until it is given away," - well, "Sculpting is not sculpting until
you share it with others, so they can enjoy a truly fascinating Art!" Even if you are
not gifted in drawing or painting, you can take a lump of clay and form it into a
remarkable piece of three dimensional art. Give it a try!

What is
everyone reading?!
Joshua and
Jonathan
with 5,000 copies of
"Hangin' Around with Noah"
My most recent accomplishment was to have my first Polymer Clay
Instructional Book published. (See JOSHUAS BOOK page)
Our whole family worked together to help make this book possible. I wanted to share my
designs with other kids and adults, so a book seemed to be the best way. My mom wrote down
all the step-by- step instructions and designed it. My dad took on the photos and did the
technical parts. My younger brother Jonathan offered his help with ideas and jokes. It
took about nine months to get the whole book laid out professionally to take to the
printer. The printer was very impressed by the quality of it. Then he took it and made it
look absolutely stunning with high quality 4 color process printing on glossy paper with a
laminated cover. I hope it will be a valuable instructional book to everyone who gets one.
It is my goal to inspire other kids to find and develop their own individual
talents. Polymer clay is a "friendly" art medium that can be mastered by all
ages with proper instruction and techniques. (See POLYMER CLAY TIPS
page). While teaching workshops for ages 4 to 65, Ive never found a single student
who didnt absolutely love polymer clay sculpting. If youve ever been
discouraged with drawing or painting, you should try your hand at polymer clay sculpting.
