Jonathan was 6 years old when he made
these refrigerator magnets from his stamp collection. To make magnets like Jonathan,
please follow the directions below.
First - roll out a flat piece of white clay to a
1/8" thickness and slightly larger than the stamp. This will be the background.
2. Put white glue on the back of your stamp and
press it onto the clay and smooth it out with your fingers.
3. Cut the background, out around the stamp, into
the shape you desire.
4. Now, roll long rope-like pieces of colored
clay that compliment the colors in your stamp. The "ropes" should be a little
thicker than the background. Use this piece to put around the outside edge of the
background shape.
5. Roll another clay "rope" out of a
different color to put around the edge of the stamp to secure it to the white background.
6. Next, add decorations that go with the theme
of the stamp, such as clay roses, leaves, rhinestones, etc.
7. Bake the stamp at 275 degrees for 15 minutes,
on a pan covered with aluminum foil. When it cools, brush on a coat of waterbase
clear finish for shine and protection.
8. Glue a round magnet to the back.
That's It!!! You have just created a one of a
kind, special refrigerator magnet! |
