"Waxed
Roses"
A great way to preserve
those special flowers from Anniversaries, Birthdays and other occasions |
 |
Supplies:
Dried flowers
Paraffin wax
waxed paper
candle scent
|
The above photo shows
roses dried from my last year's anniversary and waxed with this method. The wax brings out
the deep red color and preserves them as a fragrant keepsake that is much more
durable than just dried flowers.
|
Step 1:
Hang roses or other fresh flowers upside down in a dark place (closet), until
they are dried.
(I usually tie the stems together with a rubber band and use a clothespin to hang them on
the wire shelf in a closet where they will not be disturbed.) |
|
Step 2:
Melt paraffin wax in a slow cooker or double broiler. Place flowers in pot of
melted wax and use a laddle or large spoon to pour wax over the flowers. (Add your
favorite candle scent to melted wax before covering flowers.) |
|
Step 3:
When they are completely covered with wax, remove them from the pot and let dry
on a sheet of waxed paper |
|
Step 4:
Display your waxed flowers in a vase or add to your favorite flower arrangements. |
