Sea Shell Candles
These are fun and easy candles to make with very few supplies. |
 |
Supplies:
sea shells,
tea light candles,
glass measuring cup,
rice,
bowl or pan |
 |
Step 1: Place rice into a
container. This will be used to hold the shell level while pouring the hot wax.
Place your shell in the dish of rice and level it. |
 |
Step 2: Remove the metal
covering on the tea light candle.
Remove the wick from the tea light and place in the center of your shell. |
|
Step 3: Place the
remaining wax piece (tea light candle) into a glass measuring cup and heat on High in
Microwave until melted. (Should take between 8 and 12 minutes). You can also use a double
broiler to melt the wax. ***Use caution, as the wax and glass cup will be very
HOT! |
|
Step 4: Pour the melted
wax into the shell, keeping the wick centered and upright, as it hardens. |
 |
* For larger shells, you can melt down the
votive size candles instead of the tea lights.. These make great party favors.
For wedding favors, you can use wax candles that match or compliment your wedding colors. |
 |
*** Do NOT leave shell
candles unattended while burning or in reach of children or pets. Make sure shells are
level and place on a suitable surface before burning. |
 |
* For a creative touch, glue different
shells together |
