Supplies Needed:
Polymer Clay:  Green,Yellow, Purple, Pink & Lavender
Craft Wire
2  Seed Beads for Eyes

Step #1: Roll a 1 1/2" ball of Green for the BODY. Flatten it into a 1 1/2" circle that is 3/4" thick.

Step #2: Roll a 3/4" ball of Green for the HEAD and attach it to the BODY with a 1/2" piece of toothpick.

Step #3: Roll two 7/8" balls of Pink for the WINGS. Flatten them into 1/8" thick ovals and pinch the bottom edge of the wing into a rounded point. Wrap the wide ends of the wings around the Body, just under the Head. Roll small balls of Purple and press onto the Wings for SPOTS. Shape two 1/4" balls of Purple into teardrop shapes for ARMS. Press them onto the Body with the ends under the Wings

Step #4: Roll two 1/4" balls of Yellow for the EYES. Press onto the Head as shown in photo. Press   two seed beads into the center of the Yellow Eyes.

Baking Instructions:
Bake in a regular or toaster oven according to manufacturers instructions.
(About 30 minutes at 250 degrees)
DO NOT use a Microwave Oven!!!!

Step #5:Use a toothpick to make a line for the MOUTH. Roll three 1/4" balls of Lavender for the BOW TIE. Shape two of them into triangles and press on Body under the neck. Press other ball into center of the triangles

Step #6: Curl two 1" pieces of craft wire into antennas and press them into the top of the Head.

Step #7: Use a 6" piece of craft wire to make your bug into a plant stake. Press it into the body about 1" deep.

You can also decorate a terra cotta pot with polymer clay. The one shown at left was painted with yellow paint first. Then a strip of orange clay was wrapped around the top edge. Flower petals and leaves were made and pressed onto the pot. No glue is necessary. Bake pot and bug as directed. Lay bug flat to bake.
